Avenues of Service
Rotary's philosophical cornerstone and the foundation of club activity
Rotary's Avenues of Service are the philosophical and practical framework for the work we do. They represent the five areas of focus that form the foundation of club activity. By understanding and embracing these avenues, we can make a meaningful difference in our community and around the world.
Club Service
Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
Community Service
Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest.
Learn how to assess a community's strengths and needs, then develop a plan to address them with Communities in Action: A Guide to Effective Projects. You can also access the Community Service presentation to introduce your club to this avenue of service.
Vocational Service
Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
Read An Introduction to Vocational Service for an overview of Vocational Service and to learn how you can put your skills to work for the good of your community. The Code of Conduct offers ethical standards to follow as you conduct your business.
International Service
International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We sponsor or volunteer on international projects, seek partners abroad, and more.
Youth Service
Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Rotary Youth Exchange, and Rotaract.
