Description

The Hedge Maple (Common Maple) is a broadleaf desciduous tree. It normally grows 25-45 feet. The leaves are simple, opposite and deciduous; palmately lobed and veined.

Characteristics

The fruit is a double samara that looks like a pair of airplane propellers. The wood, especially burl wood, is highly valued. This tree is very adaptable, and prefers rich and well-drained soil.
